Description

🎭 About BOPAS BOPAS is a training facility for brave and fierce actors — those who are hungry to work in the industry and want to train with the very best in the Bay of Plenty. We don’t believe in one-size-fits-all methods. Instead, we build a patchwork of proven techniques — a quilt of tools that allow each actor to grow in their own way. At BOPAS, it’s about personal exploration: the freedom to play, the safety to release, and the trust to let go. Our work goes beyond technique. We ask what makes us human, why stories matter, and how we can tell them truthfully in a land of make-believe. Our actors learn how to bring honesty and faith to a story without betraying it — and in the process, they grow as both artists and people. We bring in the strongest tutors in the Bay of Plenty to challenge and guide our students. Graduates of BOPAS have gone on to Toi Whakaari in Wellington, signed with agents for professional representation, and worked on Shortland Street, Netflix’s East of Eden, national TV commercials, and more. Through our in-house agency, BOPAS also provides access to real auditions and genuine work opportunities in the screen industry, giving both parents and students confidence that training here leads to tangible outcomes. 🎬 Term 4 at BOPAS In Term 4, students begin with two weeks of on-camera scene work, filming directly to camera to sharpen their presence and truth in performance. From there, the focus turns to feature film mock auditions — giving students the chance to experience audition material in depth, explore what casting directors look for, and refine their skills for professional opportunities. Alongside this, students will also break down feature films, analysing what works on screen and how strong choices, structure, and performance combine to create compelling storytelling. The term is designed to mirror real-world industry expectations, with students learning how to prepare, deliver, and sustain authentic performances in high-pressure audition environments. Keep the 14th December in your calendar as this is our big red carpet short film showing at EVENT CINEMAS in Tauranga CBD. At BOPAS, we don’t just teach acting—we build characters, careers, and community. Term dates for 2025: Term 1: Starts 10 February to week of 7 April Term 2: Starts 28th April to week of 23rd June Term 3: Starts week of 21st July to Week of 15th September Term 4: Starts week of 13th October to week of 8th December
