New term class for Art Department students! The Art Department plays a crucial role in the filmmaking process, responsible for creating the visual environment that brings a film’s story to life. From set design to props, costumes to special effects, the Art Department shapes the look and feel of a film, immersing the audience in the narrative world. Taking a term class in the Art Department is a fantastic opportunity for anyone interested in the creative and technical aspects of film production. During this term, you will collaborate using sustainable materials such as paper and cardboard to build miniature sets and puppets from scratch. At the end of the term, you'll create a short stop-motion animation to showcase your hard work to friends and family! Jannine’s experience as a Production Designer ensures that she understands the intricacies of set design, from concept to execution, and can impart this knowledge effectively to her students. As the founder of Tauranga Independent Film, a not-for-profit community organization, she supports local filmmakers in the Tauranga and Bay of Plenty region by providing networking opportunities and platforms for showcasing local talent. Her dedication to fostering a vibrant film community is evident in these efforts. Artistically, Jannine has a deep love for film, marionettes, and sculpture, showcasing her broad artistic interests and skills.
